Who holds my loans?

Dear Betsy,

I know I have student loans but am not sure who I need to pay. I went to school in California. Can you point me in the right direction?

The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) website is the best place for you to find the status of your loans and who currently holds these loans. This is the Web address for NSLDS: http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA—NSLDS is a government office that keeps track of all federal student loans in the United States. You can sign up to learn the status of your loans and you can also find contact and billing information for the lenders or servicers who manage your loans.
