Minimum Score for Federal Loans

Your credit is not considered when you apply for a Federal Stafford loan. As long as you have not borrowed the maximum loan amount or defaulted on a prior federal loan, you will likely be able to be approved for a Stafford loan. For a Federal PLUS loan, as long as you do not have delinquencies over 90 days, or liens, etc. you should also be approved. In short, credit scores, in and of themselves, are not considered when applying for federal student loans.
