Lender Choice

Where can I find a list of lenders that service traditional Stafford Loans? I will not do business with certain banks. How can I avoid using them?

Dear Mike,
As the consumer, you have absolute choice over whom you borrow your Stafford Loan from. Your school cannot hinder your application based on which lender you choose, so you should not have any concerns about working with any lender you prefer not to do business with.
As far as I am aware, there is no comprehensive list of all Stafford Loan lenders. I would recommend starting with your school’s financial aid office to see if they have any lists of lenders they have worked with in the past. Also, if you have a specific lender in mind, you can contact them directly to see if they offer Stafford Loans.
