- – The Boston Globe Names American Student Assistance to Globe 100’s Top Places to Work ’08
- – American Student Assistance Again Named One of Boston’s Best Places to Work
American Student Assistance® (ASA) has been honored as one of the Boston Business Journal’s “2009 Best Places to Work” in Boston. This is the second year that ASA® has participated in the contest and the second time we have been named one of the top 20 large businesses in Boston. In the Boston Business Journal’s anonymous employee survey, an ASA associate said, “It’s a privilege to be working at American Student Assistance. They take great pride in the goals and common interests of every employee.”
The Boston Business Journal has been running its “Best Places to Work” contest for the past 7 years. The “Best Places to Work” rankings are based on surveys of employees at each nominated company. The surveys ask questions related to work environment, work-life balance, job satisfaction, advancement opportunities, and compensation and benefits. Out of 387 companies participating this year, only 60 earned the distinction of being named one of Boston’s “Best Places to Work.”
ASA values its employees. We believe our people are central to our success, and we are committed to investing in the development of our employees so that we are recognized as a place where individuals have the opportunity to learn and grow, both personally and professionally. ASA prides itself on being a learning organization, and we believe that we gain a strategic advantage in the industry with our staff of outstanding people who are continuously improving. As one of our associates attests, “ASA has helped me develop so much over the years, and I am grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me. This is a topnotch organization, and I hope to work here until I retire.”
ASA builds company loyalty and morale by offering outstanding benefits and many other perks, such as “Pizza with the President” and Boston Red Sox ticket drawings. The company also sponsors various events throughout the year, including Volunteer Day, Earth Day, and our Arts & Crafts Show—all of which provide opportunities for our associates to express themselves and celebrate ASA’s great culture of diversity.
The most popular annual event is ASA’s Halloween for UNICEF, a day of fun activities that benefit the global children’s charity. Each year, our generous employees break the previous year’s donation total. In 2008, our associates donated over $8,300 to UNICEF. An employee also noted, “Every October, we have Customer Service Appreciation Week. The company gives back to us and recognizes the contributions made to our internal and external business partners and customers/clients with an entire week of fun-filled activities.”
In addition, ASA was honored as one of the The Boston Globe’s “Top 100 Places to Work ’08” and has been nominated again for 2009. While The Globe’s contest results will not be announced until November, ASA feels honored to be nominated. As one associate said, “This company is by far the best place I have ever worked! I thoroughly enjoy my job!”
Winning awards is great, but more importantly, we are thrilled to hear that our associates love working here at ASA.
