Working at ASA

Who is ASA?

Founded in 1956, ASA is the nation’s first higher education loan guarantor. We are a Boston-based, non-profit, public purpose organization with more than 50 years in the field of higher education loan management, and in that time we have grown from a regional loan guarantor to a major player with a national market presence.

What does ASA do?

Our mission is to assist borrowers in successfully completing a program of higher education financing and repayment by focusing on a program we call Wellness. Our experienced, committed associates and our culture of caring are the essential parts of our debt management strategy.

We provide students and their parents with the education and encouragement they need to prepare for a bright financial future. We also provide a variety of services to colleges and universities, student loan lenders, the Department of Education, and others. Our services include:

  • Providing student loan borrowers with counseling on financing their education and repaying their loans
  • Originating and disbursing education loans for students and parents
  • Offering training, consultation, and support services for student financial aid professionals at colleges and universities
  • Giving student loan providers the technology and operational support they need

ASA is an Equal Opportunity Employer

At American Student Assistance® (ASA), we believe that our people make us great. With over 600 associates dedicated to helping students and families successfully manage their education loan debt, we strive to uphold a culture of excellence and caring in order to make a difference in borrowers’ lives every day.

ASA appreciates all the ways in which people differ and takes pride in being an Equal Opportunity Employment provider.
